Work Health and Safety Act

The new Work Health & Safety Legislation was proposed to commence on 1 January 2012.

In late November  the Upper House voted to defer any further discussion on the Work, Health & Safety Bill until February 2012.

It is now likely that this new legislation will commence on 1st July 2012, but it could even be 1st January 2013, we are unsure at this stage.

We will keep you updated as the Bill progresses next year.

Annual Liquor Licensing Fee

As members would be aware, the government are reintroducing an annual liquor licensing fee in 2012.  Thankfully Clubs with a Limited Club Licence will be exempt from the fee, but every other Club will need to pay.   The amount of that fee will be determined by whether the Club is considered Low risk or High risk.

Clubs SA has written a submission on behalf of the Club industry and we have received a letter of acknowledgement from Consumer and Business Services regarding that submission.  Once all submissions have been reviewed, Regulations will be drafted.    When the Regulations are ready they will be posted on www.cbs.sa.gov.au for comment.

We will keep you informed of progress.
