Club Safe

The Club industry is well aware of how serious the issue of problem gambling is and we are committed to addressing and reducing gambling problems in the South Australian community.

Club Safe’s objectives are to:

1) support the Club industry to identify problem gamblers
2) facilitate early access to gambling support services and
3) promote a closer working relationship between gaming venues and local gambling support services.

Club Safe also provides assistance to gaming Clubs in relation to compliance with both the regulatory Responsible Gambling Codes of Practice, the Gaming Machines Act and the Liquor Licensing Act.

Club Safe is run by an independent Board, an Executive Director and two Project Officers.  The Executive Director of Club Safe is Helen Martin who is also the Executive Director of Clubs SA and the Licensed Club Industry Training Foundation of SA Inc.

The two Project Officers, Giselle Berriman and Tracey Schumacher have been appointed to assist Clubs meet their obligations and legal requirements relating to responsible gambling and build closer relationships between the industry and support services.

Club Safe Update
Club  Safe commenced Advanced Responsible Gambling training courses throughout the State in mid March.  Club Safe Officers Tracey Schumacher and Giselle Berriman are acting on behalf of the Licensed Club Industry Training Foundation in delivering the courses. This training is a requirement of the Responsible Gambling Code of Practice 2004 for all senior staff and persons in charge of a gaming area. To date some 200 staff have attended this training, reiterating the Club industry’s commitment to Responsible Gambling practices. The response from participants at the sessions has been excellent.

We have succeeded in making it an informative, interactive and fun training course which includes meeting and talking with a Breakeven Counsellor. Bookings may be made by ringing Annie from Clubs SA on (08) 8376 2699 or via email on anixon@clubssa.com.au.
