The Kokoda Youth Leadership Challenge serves to develop and refine leadership skills as well as provide young people with a vivid retelling of what our soldiers endured in Kokoda. This Challenge is a national initiative organised through Clubs Australia.
In 2015, Clubs SA sent a very lucky South Australian to participate in the Kokoda Youth Leadership Challenge; Roberta Matters. Roberta returned to Adelaide in October after successfully completing the gruelling 155 kilometre Kokoda Track.
Roberta is currently completing her 5th year of a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery and living in Port Augusta which enables her to work with, and learn about the culture of Indigenous Australians. Roberta hopes to pursue a career in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the future where she wants to assist women, particularly teenagers and young mothers, throughout underprivileged areas of Australia.
