The Club Development Program is an initiative of Clubs SA designed to improve and develop the governance and leadership of licensed and unlicensed Clubs throughout South Australia.
Clubs must continually make adjustments to their governance and operations in the face of increasingly complex legal environments and in line with their available resources and community and industry expectations. The launch of the Club Development Program in February 2024 will provide structured opportunities for Boards/Committees, Club Managers and key staff to develop their skills to the level necessary to achieve both excellent governance and excellent management.
There are four key elements of the Club Development Program – the foundation module, specialised workshops and webinars, regional meetings and regional roadshows and the annual Clubs and Community Awards.
All Board or Committee members and Club Managers will be encouraged to complete the Club Governance 101 Foundation Module. Board or Committee members and key staff will then continue with further skills development aligned to the specific requirements of their role.
Modules will be updated when changes are made to legal or compliance requirements (eg the changes to the Associations Incorporation Act 1985 expected in mid 2024).
At the launch of the Club Development Program, there will be 1 foundation training program + 4 additional webinars/workshops available on a regular basis in metropolitan and regional SA. We anticipate adding further modules (such as Volunteer Management, Sponsorship Management and Facilities Management) over the next 12 months.
