Seacliff Surf Lifesaving Club - New "MAL" Boards to help save lives

Clubs SA, in conjunction with IGC, was thrilled to assist the Seacliff Surf Life Saving Club by providing $9 975 for the purchase of five “MAL” paddle boards.  These boards will not only allow the Seacliff SLSC juniors to compete in surf competitions, but most importantly will enable the kids to learn how to save people who encounter trouble in the waters off our beaches.

The paddle boards are a core component of saving lives and these kids, aged between 12 and 14, will be able to learn the skills necessary to make our SA beaches a safe and enjoyable place to be.

Clubs SA CEO Mike Penfold says, “Clubs SA is proud to assist a Club such as the Seacliff Surf Life Saving Club by providing vital pieces of equipment that will save lives.  It is terrific to see these kids, many of them young women, training to save lives and becoming an integral part of their community.

Seacliff Surf Life Saving Club Treasurer, Gareth Gray says, “the new boards are a key component in teaching our teenage members water rescue skills. The boards are specifically designed for our next generation life savers. Having the equipment they need greatly increases their ability to train and learn crucial lifesaving skills. Having the correct equipment has been a key strategy in our female retention program at the club and we thank Clubs SA and IGC for their support”.
