VHWS are relatively new partners to Clubs SA and have recently increased their commitment to the organization to Platinum Level. 

Those who are attending this year’s 100th Anniversary Gala Dinner and Awards for Excellence will enjoy some wonderful examples of their signature ‘Angove’ range.

The Angove Family Winemakers, founded in 1886, is a 5th generation family business producing some of South Australia’s most renowned wines.  Angove formed Vintage House Wine & Spirits, a national sales, marketing and distribution business providing a portfolio of premium Australian, New Zealand and International brands direct to venues.
As with Angove, VHWS is completely focused on the family ethos and distributes only products derived from family owned wineries & distilleries.

Some of the brands VHWS distribute include Wicks Estate, Schild Estate, Angove McLaren Vale and  Angove Organic (which guests will enjoy at the Awards), Temple Bruer Wines (organic and preservative free) and Hollick from the Coonawarra.
Many people may not realise, but VHWS actually distribute Spirits as well, including Blind Tiger Organic Gin, Glenfarclas Whisky & St Agnes Brandy – one of the most recognized brandies in the country.

What best describes VHWS relationship with the Club industry in South Australia?

Although the relationship between Clubs SA and VHWS is an emerging one we have developed long standing relationships with a number of individual Clubs in the state including Mt Osmond Golf Club, Pt Elliot Bowling Club and Adelaide University Rugby Club.

Through our new relationship with Clubs SA we are truly realizing the synergy between Clubs commitment to their community and our business focus on families and personal relationships.   

How long have you been with VHWS?

I’m the new boy on the block at VHWS, starting last September.  I am very much looking forward to a long future with the business with most staff having 10+ years and bringing my years as a hospitality manager is proving to be a lot of fun!

What is your role with VHWS & how long have you been with the Company?

I work in the Southern and Eastern areas of SA as Area Manager.

 What personal connection do you have with the Club Industry?

I am the Bar Manager for the Adelaide University Rugby Club, having been involved there for 10 years.  I am passionate about not only Rugby but the community environment that our Club offers.

 Our Club is very proactive in engaging the local community through activities and events, of which I am proud to be involved.  Through our Ladies Day this year we were able to donate $3000 to Catherine House.

 I am a New Zealander so have been brought up with Rugby and Cricket in my veins.  I moved to Australia 10 years ago and it was only a matter of time before I got involved at a local level.  In fact it was within 2 weeks of landing in Australia that I joined the Rugby Club!

What do you believe makes the Club industry unique and special?

It’s so different to NZ, what I like is the community side of things.  For example when I work with Pt Elliot Bowling Club it’s so obvious 

the community supports both their Club and the Pt Elliot Surf Life Saving Club.  Their members integrate both into their life.  Clubs support Clubs and Members support

Members.

 Even when we play Rugby at other Clubs we will always hang around for a beer after the game and support their bar trade.  A great way to ensure our Clubs continue to not only survive but thrive.

 How do you believe VHWS helps the Club industry?

VHWS centralizes the purchases for the Club and streamlines their product choices with access for distribution through most major distributors including ALM.  We have such a great portfolio that we are a one stop shop for most venues.

We also pride ourselves on getting to know our customers and bringing them into the VHWS family.  We take time to understand each Club’s needs and the needs of their members and guests.

 It is so crucial to know our customers, coming from a family owned business, and ensuring we treat our Clubs with a personal touch. For our customers we also offer marketing support for their in house promotions with materials and stock support.  We love to come up with new activities and ideas to support our customers.
