Blackwood Golf Club

Blackwood Golf Club

Located in Cherry Gardens, Blackwood Golf Club could be considered the most picturesque course in the Adelaide Hills.

Even though it was a grey, damp morning when we visited, there was no hiding the expansive rolling green hills generously clad in conifers and majestic gum trees.

We met with manager Daniel and bar manager Mel who were keen to learn about the new liquor laws for SA and take delivery of their Clubs SA folders and all the other resources available to our Members which will make their jobs an awful lot simpler.

We met in the upstairs bar which offers a tranquil space to sit back and relax amongst friends, especially out on the expansive balcony and it was not surprising to learn that the club is a popular spot for functions and conferences.

Blackwood is a members’ golf club that warmly welcomes visitors. Daniel informed us that the club will be celebrating its 90th birthday in 2020. It began life at a site 1.5km south of Blackwwod and has called Cherry Gardens home since 1961.

Major extensions to the clubhouse and increased parking space together with a complete revamp of the back nine including three new holes in the late '90s and early 2000s has provided a club with a warm and friendly atmosphere, beautiful fairways and greens framed with magnificent trees and foliage, creating a perfect  environment for golfing and social interactions.

The members are proud of the fact that Blackwood Golf Club has always been, and still is, a place ‘Where Challenge and Friendship Meet’.
