Clubs SA Grant for Battle Dragons
Thanks to a generous grant of $8,819.19, received from Clubs SA, the Copper Coast Battle Dragons Club was able to participate in this year’s Moonta Christmas Pageant. Earlier in the year they applied for a grant which they were successful in receiving, to enabling them to have a roadworthy trailer built, suitable for transporting a 12 metre long dragon boat safely over distances to Community Events. Now that they can transport their boat legally on the road they can also support other regional Dragon Boating events, such as the Regional Hat Regattas hosted by regional clubs and the SA Masters Game events and promote the sport by practising in other local waters.
Local engineering firm Thomson Engineering located at Paskeville was employed to build the trailer. The Dragon Boat Club was impressed with their workmanship and the short time line to build it.
With a new trailer to carry their boat you can expect to see the Copper Coast Dragon Boat Club not just training and racing in the Marina, but in a variety of locations in the future.
