Anzac Day 2020 - Light Up The Dawn
ANZAC Day will be commemorated differently this year, with people urged to Light Up the Dawn from their own homes.
As a result of restrictions to this year’s formal ANZAC Day commemorations the RSL encourages people to Light Up the Dawn and remember and pay respects from home. This can take several forms including from your home, the end of your driveway or a balcony. Spread the word and take it to your neighbourhood.
For details on how to commemorate this year's Anzac Day at home visit the RSL's website; http://rslsa.org.au/light-up-the-dawn/
This tribute to those who sacrificed so much offers the opportunity to use your own words of reflection, name people you remember today, give gratitude for those who served and sacrificed, and to those still serving our nation.
Take the time to recite the Ode:
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
The RSL's website also has links to the music for The Last Post and Reveille/Rouse.
It is also important to note that the ANZAC Day Appeal normally runs in conjunction with the many ceremonies across the country and is a very large contributor to the work RSL's do. Without this physical opportunity to donate, Australians are being encouraged to donate online. Your support of our ANZAC's through donations is very much needed and appreciated.
