Understanding your first aid requirements

You are not alone if you are unsure whether your workplace meets all requirements under the Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Act and Regulations. Over the years there have been a number of gaps within South Australian workplaces ranging from lack of equipment and facilities, to not having enough or any nominated first aiders, to first aid qualifications not matching the level of risk. We are here to breakdown the complexities of compliance around First Aid in the workplace.

Workplaces must meet Safe Work Australia’s minimum requirements for first aid equipment and facilities for their staff, volunteers, contractors, subcontractors and visitors, with their First Aid in the Workplace Code of Practice stating the type and quantity of essential first aid equipment necessary in different settings.
