Mundoora Community Sports Club

We're delighted to welcome our newest Member to Clubs SA.

Sitting 16 km inland from Port Broughton, the Mundoora Community Sports Club really is the heart of this town with the community taking over its running almost 60 years ago. It is also home to the Australia Post outlet for the region, providing a vital service.

A big thank you to manager Darren for providing some background about this unique community Club

"The Mundoora Community Sports Club opened its doors on 26th Oct 1967 only 10 months after the closure of the towns hotel due to the license being transferred to Port Broughton.

The club is run by a committee of volunteers who work in the kitchen and help with various club events.

They also appoint a manager who operates the club and looks after all the normal duties associated with running a bar and kitchen. In addition, the manager also runs the Community Post Office as part of the club.

A number of events are held at the club such as land auctions, fundraisers, meetings, funeral wakes and milestone birthday parties.

“Mundoora Teas” as they are known, are popular with people from miles around and the Saturday nights can also be used by any group as a fundraiser looking to raise money for their cause.

All in all, the Mundoora Club is a very welcoming place and is quite unique in the way it operates. The club strives to keep prices down so the whole family can enjoy a night out without breaking the bank. The success of this is shown by our membership of approx. 150 adults which in a town of only about 30 is pretty good!"

We look forward to working with Darren and the committee for many years to come.
