Mindarie-Halidon Racing Club

We visited the wonderful Mindarie-Halidon Racing Club this week and what a gem it is

Krystina was a lovely host as we worked through liquor compliance and club governance. Holding the position of secretary and treasurer for more years than she can remember, she spoke with pride about the way in which the community comes together for the annual Cup Day held in September.

This is a unique Club in that it sits in isolation at the heart of the sheep-farming and grain-growing region of the Murray Mallee, around half an hour from the nearest town, yet it  is plays an important role for the widespread community. Over the years with a dwindling population and economic pressures, the district has lost its footy and netball Clubs and more.

Although they've had their ups and downs in recent times, the committee is confident that they have turned a corner and are more committed than ever to ensuring that the rich and long history of racing in the region continues.
