Updating Club Committee & Public Officer Details

Reminder – Updating Club Committee & Public Officer Details

Clubs are reminded that they have obligations under legislation to notify Consumer and Business Services (CBS) whenever a change occurs to their committee or public officer.

Beginning with changes to committee members, within 14 days of a change to the membership of a clubs committee, an application needs to be lodged notifying CBS of the changes, and this is done online via the Liquor & Gaming Online (LGO) Portal. If a club does not have an LGO account, they will need to look to create one.

There is no fee for clubs that only hold a liquor licence but for those with a gaming licence, there will be a fee, which should currently be $165.00.

Clubs SA members can find a guide to making this application on Clubs SA’s members only site on the “Application Guides & Information Sheets” page.

When looking to add a committee member, the following information will be needed:

  • Full name
  • Home address
  • Date of birth
  • Email address (if someone does not have a personal address then they can just utilise the clubs one)

Once the application is lodged an email confirmation should be received with a summary attached. CBS will then later confirm whether the application has been approved.

If a club has any difficulty in lodging this application, they can contact Clubs SA for assistance

If a club believes they do not have their current committees’ details lodged with CBS, then they should look to fix this ASAP.

Regarding public officers, the public officer’s name and current residential address need to be registered with CBS and it is breach of the Associations Incorporation Act 1985 for an association to be without a public officer for longer than a one-month period.

In addition, whenever there is a change to a public officer or to an existing public officer’s address, CBS must be notified in an application within one month of the change occurring.

Applications are made through CBS’s website here rather than the LGO portal and there is a guide to this also on Clubs SA’s members only site on the “Application Guides & Information Sheets” page.

For changes made within the required time there will be no fee applicable but there will be for any late lodgements. Clubs should contact Clubs SA for advice where they believe they have not updated their public officers details within the required time period.
