“The Power of Her” - Funding Available to Sporting Clubs to Help Improve Female Participation

Clubs SA sporting club members are advised that the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing’s “The Power of Her – Infrastructure and Participation Program” has reopened.

This program came about as part of the legacy of the successful 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and looks to provide funding to go towards dedicated facilities, improvements to facilities, equipment and programs for girls’ and women’s sport in South Australia.

The funding available is split between football (soccer) and other sports. In 2025-26 the total budget notionally allocated is as follows:

Football (Soccer)

Infrastructure Stream $5,856,800

Program and Equipment Stream $300,000

Other Sports

Infrastructure Stream $2,800,000

Program and Equipment Stream $200,000

Applicants can look to submit applications for multiple streams if they wish.

Any club considering applying needs to carefully review the guidelines including any eligibility criteria, co-contribution requirements and what the funding can be used for.

Where an applicant can show the funding will notably help them remove barriers to participation and create more inclusive and welcoming environments for girls and women, the higher the chance of success.

Previous rounds of this program have occurred, and the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing has stated successful funding has been put towards such things as:

· unisex change rooms

· improved lighting and playing surfaces

· new uniforms and equipment

· coaching initiatives More information can be found here and this round closes at Midday on Friday 15 August 2025.
